“Happiness resides in imaginative reflection…”
“…when the picture of one’s life…as it truly has been or is, satisfies the will, and is gladly accepted.” ~ George Santayana
“Any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel…”
“…Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.”
~ John Lennon *
What does Reflection mean to you?

Jennifer I love these beautiful images and words…..I think we are all little mirrors and whatever we fill our day with will reflect outwards, hopefully I try to be positive, especially to the two little sponges that are soaking up life around me.

I love your interpretation, Kath. And I agree, our children need to see positive role models, as I’m sure you are. Thanks. 🙂

Great interpretation of the themes. These pictures remind me of my daughter when she was younger. She wore pink everyday. It became my favorite color. 🙂

I’m not a fan of pale pink, but I do like the darker, brighter hues, the hot pinks.

Lovely pictures of relaxing water. Summer is on its way for you.
I had not heard of that quote by John Lennon before.
It resonates with me because I have recently been playing his immortal message “Imagine” over and over.
How ironic that he said that quote on the day of his death.

Thank you.
Ironic indeed, Elizabeth. There are quite a number of quotes attributed to Lennon, not to mention his brilliant songs such as Imagine, making me wonder what we may have learned from him if only he hadn’t been murdered. Such a waste.

I like the quote and adore the pictures, Jennifer. When a comedian makes us laugh because he tells a joke that we can relate to I’ve noticed it’s the reflection of our own silliness that’s making us laugh so hard. These are always my favorite. I think the quote is very applicable for parenthood too. Feelings are personal and should be validated and not judged or forbidden.

That’s right, Wendy, it’s our own humanity we see reflected and can’t help laughing at when we are entertained by comedians; a fitting observation for this post. 🙂
Parenting is very applicable here too. So much of our dealings with others, children included, can be improved if we remember their need and right for validation. Excellent point!

Lovely photos Jennifer! What does reflection mean to me? I guess it means taking an honest look, whether it’s good or bad, at who I am, what I’ve done and am doing, how it is affecting my tribe, etc., and embracing all of who I am (good or bad) and asking myself how I want to move forward from here…
Thanks for making me think Jennifer!

Wow. Diana that is a totally comprehensive summation. I really did make you think. 😀 I have little doubt you have oodles to embrace about yourself.
As of late, reflection for me has taken on a more forgiving attitude, not only for myself but for everyone I meet. I think if we open our eyes more to see what is reflected back to us from other people, we would realize we are far more alike than we are different.
Taking time for reflection is a must for poetry and any writing, and all forms of artistic expression. As Lennon said, it is the attempt to reflect what all of us feel.
