My son came for a visit here in Newtown this past week. On one of the days, I went along to take pics of him and my husband playing beach golf. This beautiful sandy beach is only a few hundred yards from our house. The weather was cool and windy, but I liked the way the photos turned out.

What do you like to do when you go to the beach?

No need, the water here is much too shallow for whales. 🙂

I love it I reckon a few Aussies would get into that if we could find a low tide and a couple old golf sticks!

I bet! The sandbar they were aiming for is the same one that becomes visible most days at 3 or 4 in the afternoon. My granddaughter likes to walk across it with us to the island at the other end, which she calls China! I have to admit, it feels surreal to “walk across the ocean” like that. You would love it.

Oh, is that right? Do you play, Kelly?

With the kids, yes. Like golf, the best part is when the ball goes in the water. We use a tennis ball so it floats, unlike a golf ball.

Yes, the goal was to reach the sandbar, that’s all. It’s a great place to practice your swing, and it beats the heck out of a driving range. 🙂

no kidding on the driving range bit – the scenery is gorgeous! Do you play golf Jennifer?

I wish. Unfortunately I don’t have the range of motion in my neck, shoulders and arms to do more than putt. 😦

I’ve tried it and I’m not very good. I have an awesome drive but my putting is horrible and I insist on counting every stroke and those waiting to play the hole I’m on start to get a bit cranky!

You’d be perfect for beach golf then! 😀
