During our time away this month, we took our annual trip to the small community of Lead Cove, Trinity Bay. My daughter and family have a second home there, and it’s always nice to visit, especially in the summer.
Their property has lots of beautiful trees, but for this post I’m sharing the tiger lilies.

“Flowers don’t worry about how they’re going to bloom.
They just open up, turn towards the light and that makes them beautiful.“
~ Jim Carrey
I first heard of this quote from writer friend Pamela Wight‘s Instagram page. Thanks for sharing it, Pam. 🙂

Beautiful flowers, Jennifer. Tiger lilies are one of my favorite flowers. 🙂

Beautiful photos! I miss the tiger lilies of Michigan. I haven’t seen any in Arizona. Tiger Lilies remind me of one of my favorite poems: “Pied Beauty” by Gerard Manley Hopkins. Second and last stanza:
All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.

The Tiger Lily is Saskatchewan’s Provincial flower. I love them too.

I did not know that, Darlene. Newfoundland and Labrador’s flower is the pitcher plant—it drowns and digests insects! 😊

I love day lilies. My mother bred them and create an amazing display of them around her house. And I love that quote and the idea that flowers don’t consider how long they bloom. A good lesson there for me :-).

Those displays must have been gorgeous. There’s a lesson in that quote for me too. Thanks, Audrey!
