Cat Dreams

Good day, my friends and fellow felines. Vivian K. Perry here, returning as guest host on Jennifer’s Journal.

Jennifer caught me unawares one morning last week, indulging in a wonderfully delicious cat nap. These pics she took make me wonder: do humans dream the same as I do?

Jennifer says I get twitchy at times when I sleep, where my paws seem to act out the dream-movie playing in my head. In the dream-movie, I might be chasing a shrew or a mouse, or I could be trying to catch up to Paul on a walk.

I wonder, is it the cat version of REM sleep? Except it’s RPM sleep – short for “Rapid Paw Movement”?

 I think the camera captured me here resting up for another night of fun and frolic. While the weather is still mild, Maisie and I enjoy napping for most of the day, so we can return to our wild, nocturnal adventures as the moon rises and darkness descends…

 …then we pad back home at the break of dawn to stir the house with urgent meows and vibrating purrs.
Time to get up and fill our bowls, humans!

  12. Hi Vivian–Parker here. I tried to tell my human about RPM but she wouldn’t believe me. Maybe if she reads it here, it will sink in. At least you get out at night. Me, my big bro,Teemu and big sis, Kitty are what’s called ‘indoor cats.’ I call it house arrest, but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, good to see you. Nice blog. Hugs and hisses to Maisie from me and my the gang.

    1. Hi Parker. We used to be indoor kitties, for the first three years of our lives. For the past four years we have been living here on Perry’s Point, where our lives changed completely.
      Indoor cats are safer, however. Nothing much happens here to hurt us, except for getting a bit of a scare when a mink springs out of his hole!

  13. Vivian I had a smile at (rapid paw movement). As I write to you my son’s cat Apple is tearing up the lounge room in what we call psycho mode. He knows summer is on the way. You look like you live in paradise with caring owners. Now thats the most special thing for a cat who loves a cuddle.

  15. Oh Vivian! I hope you realise you (and Maisie of course) have totally made my day! Thank you! My Poppy and Phoebe dream just like you do with paws very busy and whiskers all atwitch 😊. You are very beautiful, both of you. x
