Since we’ve been enduring day after day of rain, drizzle and fog here in Newfoundland—along with a touch of the white stuff yesterday—I thought it was high time to drag out photos from our last vacation off the island. Hard to believe it’s been almost two years since we flew to sunny Cuba for a week.

The weather was particularly hot and humid this time, but we found ways to keep cool with the help of pools, shady spots, a la carte dining, and lots of cold drinks.

This cloud looked like a curtain being drawn over the resort. The inevitable shower was short, sweet, and refreshing.

The bus arrives for an afternoon excursion to the town of Varadero.

And no trip to Varadero would be complete without an al fresco meal at our favourite “restaurante.”

Who knows if we will ever see the Caribbean again?
At least we have the Memories!

I love those sunny tropical photos! The Caribbean is beautiful and I’d go there in a minute! I used to go every few years when I lived on the east coast. I hope you get to the tropics again soon. 😀

Thanks, Diana. The UK is on our radar for the next trip, whenever that happens!

I want to go there too, but it probably won’t be until 2023. And who knows what will be going on that far out!

Thank you for such a beautiful little trip today! I shared this across Facebook in the USA. Live Oak Florida, here. https://www.wisdomforpennies.com is my little food blog if you care to take a look and share for me.

That cloud!!! I’ve never seen anything quite like that. Gorgeous shots. I hope we can all get back to the Caribbean eventually. I guess we will see what happens.

I know, right? We don’t get those types of clouds, that look like giant doilies, around here either. Yes, here’s hoping we’ll get the chance to see more one day.

Jennifer, I’m still walking along that beautiful beach and will join you at Don Alex for a bite!😀 Thank you for sharing your special trip here and Cuba is not a usual holiday destination. I love the pink Cadillac – I love those and my husband had organised one as a suprise for our wedding!😀

A pink Cadillac for your wedding! Oh, that is so romantic and sweet, Annika. I know you must have a photo to show of that? 😉
Thanks for joining us in Cuba, ha ha. XO

Cuba! I would love to go there some day. You are so fortunate to have had the chance to visit. We plan to go south of there this fall.

Hi, Barbara! Guess what? Slowly but surely the block editor is becoming easier. 🙂

I’m glad! I actually think it’s better, but the changes are so big and they are not always intuitive. It took me forever to find certain features, but now that I have, I think they are easier to use. Looking forward to your next trip!

You’re quite welcome, Jill. Cuba is well-known for its colourful vintage cars. Most of them are used as taxis.

Hi Jennifer – thanks for sharing these. I didn’t remember that you’d visited Cuba twice. Looks beautiful!

Three times actually, but I think I only blogged about it twice. A pleasure to share. And thanks for sharing the post on Twitter. 💕

We were suppose to go to Cuba last March 21st, for the first time. Maybe one day. Hope your weather improves soon. We’ve been having some beautiful weather lately, today is the first rain day in a couple of weeks. Stay safe my friend and hopefully we’ll all be able to travel again soon. CHEERS!!!

Aw that’s too bad, Lynda. Yes, hopefully one day you’ll get there. The people are lovely there too. As for our weather, we had a much nicer March than April!

What a beautiful place. I love the horses, pulling their customers. Harks back to the day…

Me too, Jacqui. Although the drivers can be a tad overly aggressive to get you on, even when you tell them you just want to walk.

We´ve visited many of the Caribbean Islands but not Cuba. Looks great!

Hi, Darlene. It was a nice resort, and our third visit to Cuba. Twice in the Dominican Republic and once in Jamaica. I’d like to go back to Jamaica again, I think. Which islands did you visit?

We´ve been to Puerto Rico, Aruba, Curacao, Barbados, Granada, St Lucia, St, Roche, St. Martin, Grand Cayman and The British Virgin Islands (our favourite and we´ve visited twice). Each island has its own distinctive personality.

Wonderful! That’s quite the list! Yes, I’m sure they are each distinct in their own way. Whenever travel opens up again, we’re going to skip the south as we’re hoping to go to the UK for an extended holiday. Fingers crossed.

That will be great. I love the history and old buildings of the UK. I´ll cross my fingers for you as well. xo
