~ There is a Pleasure in the Pathless Woods ~
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less,
But Nature more.
~ excerpt from Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage
by Lord Byron

great paring of words to give a great and deeply emotional feeling

That poem is one of the many reasons I loved discovering Lord Byron while in college. Thank you for bringing him back to me here now along with your amazing photo. 💙👏

You are most welcome. It’s a gorgeous verse, Pam, I agree. So relatable for those who love to enjoy the gift of solitude only nature can provide.

Jennifer, your photos are just wonderful. I feel the stillness of being at both places, the whisper of nature
around.
Thanks for the Lord Byron poem too. It is just beautiful, would it that one day I could tell my love like this.

Miriam, I tried hard to find just the right photos from my collection to fit the verse. I guess I succeeded. 😊
Byron was a master, and an unconventional fellow to boot. And please, don’t undersell yourself – I love your poetry too!

The older I get, the more I realize I may indeed love nature and my dog more than some of my fellow humans:).

Same here, my dear (if you substitute dog for cats! I love dogs too but don’t own any right now). 🙂

Jennifer, a treat of photos by yourself and poem by Byron … the music of the ocean is hypnotic and draws us close nature … away from the distractions of our normal existence. We all need such solitude and recuperation of ‘Nature more’.

You are so right. Nothing like the music of the ocean, which I miss whenever I’m away. Funny, I was going to call this post “Nature More.” 🙂 Thank you!

If you keep posting pictures like this, Jennifer, we’re all going to move up and ruin it all! Sigh. I’d like exactly what you have but warmer.

Thanks! Spring is a slow and gradual entity around here, Diana, but we’re expecting sunshine later today. Happy Sunday to you! 🙂
