Vivian on Video: a Fetching Feline

Enjoying a lazy Sunday

Happy Sunday, all!

Vivian K. Perry here with a video of me playing fetch, made by my staff. We started playing this game one night when I was feeling down about the recent loss of my sister Maisie.

Please don’t be alarmed by my cries — that’s what I always do when I play with my favourite ball. The game ends when I keep the ball. Fun fact: this is the same sound I make whenever I bring home a vole or shrew. Enjoy!

Peace, Love & Understanding

Before I got busy with NaNoWriMo, I took a departure from my usual blogging to compile a small selection of music videos. They will be used to cover posts for part of the month, and to give another side to Remembrance Day, which is observed in Canada on November 11th.

I mean no disrespect to the memories of all the brave soldiers who fought, stood on guard, and died for us. I honour them just as you do. My only intention here is to highlight several songs that mean something to me and convey my abiding wish for peaceful, nonviolent alternatives to the costs and devastation of war and strife worldwide.

The words of a dreamer? Perhaps.

I hope you enjoy this post and the next four, and have a listen. 🙂

As I walk through
This wicked world
Searchin’ for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself
Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There’s one thing I wanna know:
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding?

And as I walked on
Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

Cause each time I feel it slippin’ away, just makes me wanna cry.
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding?

So where are the strong?
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

Cause each time I feel it slippin’ away, just makes me wanna cry.
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding? Ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love and understanding?

~ Nick Lowe

UPDATE 2020: I love this new social-distanced Nick Lowe version for the times we live in, and the fact he is the song’s writer.
