Cold winter days are fast approaching, and for our feline friends and housemates Maisie and Viv, that means snowy paws and shorter trips outside.
Sometimes they cry to go out, but change their minds and make a quick backtrack when we open the door and the bitter wind hits their furry faces. Then they cry again as if we can magically change the weather for them!
“Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what you want.” – Joseph Wood Krutch, American writer, critic, and naturalist
I go through the same with my feline boys. “Let me out…no, wait, cold. Snow. LET ME IN.” It always reminds me of the the Heinlein science fiction novel, “The Door Into Summer”. Stay warm. Cheers

I haven’t heard of that book, but it sounds like something I would like. Thanks for the recommendation!

These are great pictures, Jennifer. Our weather has turned cold again and I’m under a blanket right now! Cats are so funny. They definitely want the world to change for them and are quite offended when it doesn’t! I don’t have any cats now, but I grew up with them and, while they each had their own personality, they shared that trait. Happy winter!

Thank you, Barbara. Maisie and Vivian have no qualms about asking for what they want, and they usually get it!
Stay warm. 😊

I have a 90-lb black lab and she is happiest galloping through the snow:). She’s killer in a snowball fight too–best defense I’ve got–can catch a snowball like nobody’s business . . .

That’s wonderful, Kristine. I hope you get to enjoy him for many years to come. ❤️

Lovely pics of the frozen paw prints … I can feel the cold from these and no wonder they long for the outside but regret their decision once the door is open! Keep warm and snug! Xx

And it’s a long cold winter ahead so we’re about to witness this on a regular basis. 😂 Thanks, Annika.

Our dogs do the same, Jennifer, but its the rain they don’t like. Great quote from Krutch. 🙂 Stay warm.

It’s raining here right now and they’ve only been out once today. 😊

Lovely little pawprints, but I’m sure they have plenty of warm spaces to warm those cold feet 🙂

Cold paws and ear tips are quickly warmed up around here. 😊

I’m kind of right there with the cats. Is it so much to ask that the temperature be to my liking when I decide it’s time for a walk? 🙂

Exactly. In a perfect world it wouldn’t be a lot to expect!

It’s entirely their choice if they go out. I try to keep them in but sometimes the meowing is relentless so I give in.

My dog hates being outside in the cold–and we’re in California! My sister’s dog Catey will poop on command when he goes out during Indiana’s winter weather–often below zero lately!

Ha ha, poop on demand so he can get back in!
