Let’s get down to business: I went to see my veterinarian in Gander yesterday. And because I did, my weekend is going to be one of recovery instead of more itching and scratching of my pretty face.
You see, I have this recurring condition, an allergy of sorts, or so I’m told. The problem is that no one can determine what triggers it! The first time this happened to me was when we were still living in the city, and I was barely out of kittenhood. I had a little spot on my cheek that simply would not heal.
As it happened, Jennifer and Paul went on a trip to Jamaica that spring, and when they came back, they were horrified to see that the little spot had festered and had gotten much worse. Off to the vet we went, and I came back with steroids, antibiotics and that ghastly ‘cone of shame’ around my neck. Let me tell you: I HATED that #@%*#!ing cone!
But I healed, and ever since, my staff made sure I never got to that point again.
A year or so ago, Jennifer read on the internet that the cat treats, Temptations, were causing itchy skin allergies in some other members of my species, so of course I never got to eat another one after that. For a long while, it seemed the mystery had been solved.
Then my condition returned, so we are back to square one as to the cause. If anyone out there has any experience with this or knows what I might be allergic to, would you help a kitty out and please leave a comment below?

After my check-up, I went home with my new meds. I hardly made a peep the whole way, probably because I was worn out from all the excitement.
I thought Maisie would’ve been lonely during our absence; she is rarely left by herself.
But she seemed un-purr-turbed.

An hour and a half drive is a long drive for anyone except for Tim my other half he loves driving which is why he is a bus driver and most of his jobs involved driving, I don’t think anyone would like the cone of shame

That cone of shame is often the fashion in our house. For a change nobody is wearing one.

Not too. At least most of the time. Lots of animals with a minor surgery here and a hot spot there. The last one was a sixteen year old kitty with cancer on her face. Happy as could be and felt no pain but had to wear the cone to keep her from scratching it. She was a real sport about it.

Oh that is darling. I am often sad when my dog has to see the vet. I figure he just doesn’t understand what’s going on. Labs are so stoic–as, it appears, was your Vivian!

I don’t think Vivian is as stoic as your Lab, Jacqui, but she is a trooper when all is said and done. I think the hardest part for me when we were at the vet was seeing one poor little dog who could hardly walk because of something growing on his upper back leg. So sad to see animals in pain. 😦

HI Vivian–Teemu here. I say this with the highest possible esteem, but you still look purr-ty good in spite of that spot on your cheek. I had to wear the cone of shame a few times–I am kind of a fragile guy. Yes, in spite of my dashing good looks I need a lot of TLC. The vet talked to my mom about pill pockets if I did not take my latest med, buy hey! I’m a guy. We can take our meds without any help. Anyhow, I hope they find out what is going on with you. Be sure to get plenty of rest and eat well. Take care, Vivian. Oh, Parker says ‘meow!’ to you and Maisie.

Oh Vivian so sorry to hear of your allergy, very strange I hope you get better soon. I sent your mum a print of a bird. Maybe you can stare at the bird and dream of better days when it arrives. All the best heal quickly.

Thank you, Kath! Already, the itching and scratching has stopped, so I should be all better soon. I watched a plover through the window today hunting for earthworms on our back lawn. That was fun! ~~~Love, Vivian ❤
