Sunday Snaps: Our House*

“Our house is a very, very, very
fine house … “

… With two cats in the yard …

… Life used to be so hard … now everything is easy ’cause of you.” 💕

💙🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾💙

I know, I know. Lou and Gord don’t go out in the yard. They are indoor cats. However, we are considering buying leashes and harnesses to take them outside when summer comes. We’ll see!

  1. Lou and Gord are beautiful cats, Jennifer. And I love that song, by the way. If you do get leashes and harnesses for them in the spring, I hope you will post pictures of your outdoor excursions! Stay warm inside for now! It’s 14 degrees here right now and we are under a foot of snow

    1. We treasure Lou and Gord, Barbara. They add so much fun and love to our lives. 😊 As for that song, it’s constantly going through my head since I posted this. I love it too.
You stay warm as well. We are having an old-fashioned winter here, that’s for sure. Lots of snow, and the wind is crazy here on the Point. I can’t wait til spring!

  2. Bless! Lou and Gourd look so comfortable and at peace! It’s great they bring you so much joy, Jennifer. My son and his fiancée have two beautiful cats which are also kept indoors and are out on a leash. It works very well for them and all most contented!

    1. Thanks, Annika! Do you know if your son’s cats cry to go out in between, though? Or do they only respond when invited? That is the biggest concern we have, that we would be opening the floodgates to a lot of bawling to go outside all time? Perhaps we’re worrying for nothing?

      1. No bawling at all, Jennifer. Sometimes they will show they are keen to go out otherwise wait until invited out. They have built a ‘catio’ attached to the house – quite a large area which they access from inside the house and can be outdoors securely. It is built from wooden and chicken wire. Hope this helps and your cats look so peaceful and content!

        1. Aww, we dreamed about putting a catio outside, Annika, but I think our climate would require it to be as sturdy as our house. Crazy wind here. Thinking strongly on the leashes though. Another commenter mentioned starting them at it as kittens is best, so there’s that. We shall see. Thanks for your input! 😊

  3. What a cozy little window into your world! 🏡✨ I could almost hear “Our House” playing in the background while scrolling through the photos — the way you describe Lou and Gord just radiates that gentle, everyday kind of joy. Those two look like royalty in their fine abode, and I loved how your words and images capture both the calm and the charm of home life.
The idea of harnessing cats feels thrilling and a tad chaotic (double trouble indeed 😄), but honestly? It seems like a perfect little adventure — especially with two curious floofs leading the way. Thanks for sharing this peaceful Sunday moment; it made my day a bit softer and brighter. 💛

      1. Yes, we’ve done it year round since 2018, but as Misty gets older (he’s about 10 now), he usually takes shorter walks in the winter or doesn’t go out at all when we give him the option.

We tend to give Misty a treat to help lure him into the harness, and give him another treat when he comes back inside. During the first few weeks of walks in ’18, we held on to the leash at all times, but then gradually dropped the leash at times while still following closely behind.

Given that you have two kitties, it would of course be harder for you than it has been for us.

          1. When there are cats in the pictures, I don’t see anything else. I’ve had cats with a lot of white in them but your cats are bright white. Sasha has a white belly but prefers to distribute her white floofs all over the floor.
