Speaking of Barbie . . .

With all the hype and hoopla about the new Barbie movie—no, this isn’t a review as I haven’t seen it yet—I thought I’d dig out the only Barbie I own right now.

It’s also fitting to share her this year because she was a bridal shower gift to me back in 1998, from my husband Paul’s Aunt Cassie. Yes, on August 15th, we will celebrate our silver wedding anniversary!

The box she came in has gotten a little damaged over the years.

Twenty five years later, I’m dusting Barbie off and “unveiling” her for you. This is what is written on the back of the box:

Below are her accessories:

… and her open-toe pumps:

Here she is with her veil on:

… and with the veil pulled back:

Before I put her away, should I reenact our wedding?

Hmmm … where’s Ken when you need him? 😊

  1. LOL. You’re too funny, Jennifer. That’s great that you kept her, and still in the original box. I used to have a bunch of Barbies, but I cut off all their hair. Sigh. Poor things never looked the same. Thanks for show!

  2. Jennifer, what a beautiful Barbie and a terrific idea for a wedding present. The detail is exquisite and she is in mint condition. I played with Barbie dolls (my friends had Cindy dolls) but alas my dolls are the worse for wear. I do recall I had a wedding dress for one along with the open toe white sandals. That poor Barbie went through so many weddings and divorces! Btw. Congratulations in advance on your Silver Wedding Anniversary- have a most special time celebrating this wonderful day. ❤️ Next year it will be 25 years for us – and how on earth did the time go SO fast?! 😀

    1. Thank you for your warm congrats, Annika. Like you, I don’t know where the time went!
My childhood Barbies and Ken are long gone, and this one is in mint condition because it was the first time in 25 years I took the poor thing out of the box! I was so pleased with how great she looked, I had to blog about it. 😄
