Every February seems to try my patience. In spite of the beautiful blues these photos depict, the shortest month always feels like the longest to me.

Speaking of patience, I’ve always loved this poet’s pen name, as well as her positive sentiment here:
While it is February, one can taste the full joys of anticipation. Spring stands at the gate with her finger on the latch. ~ Patience Strong (Winifred Emma May)

To my friends and followers in the northern climes—do you find this month as long and bleak as I do? And we’re only ten days in. Brrrr!

Jennifer, these photos are gorgeous. So easy though for me to forget how cold it can be while I’m here in sunny Arizona! I do remember having the February doldrums when I lived in Michigan amidst the snow and cold (and ice). I love that quote from the poet with the amazing name.

Thanks, Luanne! The weather has been particularly wild here the last few days, with snowstorms and high winds. The ocean we see from our house is absolutely crazy. Come on spring!

Ooh these are lovely Jennifer. I always find January the long month – once we get past that February seems to speed by…

Thanks, Andrea. In any case, I hope we have a nice spring—on both sides of the pond. 😊

So far I haven’t found February to be that hard in spite of the freezing cold and cloudy skies. Guess I’ve been too busy to notice. But I do like the deliciousness of anticipating spring and the quote by Patience Strong.
Your photos are stunning, Jennifer. ❤

Lucky you! Being busy has that side effect for sure. Perhaps I need some more distractions. Thank you, Carol. xx

Our February in Florida is too warm so far. I know people will say I shouldn’t complain, but given that our summers are nearly unbearable, my heart sinks when our temps get too high too soon. I love the blues in your photos. Very little blue around here, but lots of green 😉 When I lived in NY, February was hard because everyone was tired of the snow and cold. I believe my family that still lives up there are going through that now. Good thing it is a short month 🙂

Hi Marie. Yes it is a good thing, though it really doesn’t feel much shorter. Like you, I don’t like too much heat. Our summers lately are requiring more air conditioning or at least the use of more fans, and if you’ll excuse the pun, I’m not a fan! 😄 Stay cool! 😎

Yeah, we have a ceiling fan in every room (well, not the bathrooms). I don’t think we could live without them. I’m not a fan of air conditioning, but Florida wouldn’t be livable without it. Which makes some people wish air conditioning had never been invented 😉

Yes – Feb is the hardest, coldest month. Usually we try to get away somewhere warm during it, but not this year. Not until May. Like the poet says, Spring stand at the gate with her finger on the latch! Hang in there!

Beautiful blues and that gorgeous red sky, Jennifer.
February here isn’t quite a bleak (but also not quite as sublimely beautiful). The light is starting to return and we’ll have some surprise warm days toward the end of month. A gorgeous quote. Thanks for sharing and hang in there. It isn’t long.

Ooh, surprise warm days sound very nice right now—or toward the end of the month. I’m hanging in there! Trying to frame it as the necessary precursor to a beautiful spring. Thanks, Diana. 💕

Yep. Winter is a necessary part of the whole and it always leads to spring.

It is the longest month of the year even though it has less days!

Exactly, Kate! But next month has the first day of spring, so I’m clinging to that.
