“Venice of Newfoundland”: a Bird’s Eye View

Thanks to two local photographers, you can see why Newtown has been nicknamed “the Venice of Newfoundland.” The community is like an archipelago, connected by a series of causeways and bridges.

I think it’s pretty cool that our house can be seen in both photos. 🙂

    1. Well it ain’t the Florida keys exactly but yes, I can’t help but think of flooding when I look at these pics. We are still well above sea level right now though, and we should be long gone if and when it gets swallowed up. 😀

  1. Absolutely stunning, Jennifer and makes the spirit soar! 😀 It reminds me of the archipelago of islands where my grandparents lived and where some of my cousins still live on the west coast of Sweden! There is nothing quite like living near the ocean!

    1. Wow, thanks for telling me that about the lovely west coast of Sweden, Annika. And yes, I don’t think there is any place quite as nice as the seaside. Stormy winter days and all! I hope I can always see the ocean on any given day.
      Enjoy the week ahead! 🙂

  2. Jennifer – these are fantastic views of Canada’s “Venice,” which is the first time I heard the title. You live in a beautiful place. I love travelling to your side of the world with you. Thank you.
