“Photography is the art of frozen time …
the ability to store emotion and feelings within a frame.”
– Meshack Otieno
Photos were taken on the first of January while out for an afternoon walk.
Our faces felt frozen but our bodies stayed toasty warm.
Time to bundle up on those walks, my northern friends.
Happy New Year to all!
Bundle up for sure, Jennifer! I was just telling one of my work friends about your wonderful blog – I will have to show her this picture. We both love the sea!

Aw, thanks for talking up my blog, Barbara! I really appreciate it. xo
Cold and windy with flurries here today. On the bright side, the days are slowly getting longer again, right? 🙂

How many hours of daylight do you have right now? My friend and I were talking about that and I wasn’t sure.

Today the sunrise was 7:58 and sunset will be 4:30. Only 8 and a half hours. Could be worse!

True – our sunrise was at 7:23 and sunset is at 4:52, so we have a little more sunshine, though not today. Cloudy and misty!

Beautiful!!!! I grew up in Northern Manitoba – there is nothing as stimulating as a Canadian winter – feeling the freedom of walking in the wilderness. “Nothing burns like the cold.” George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Thanks, Rebecca! Northern Manitoba is certainly a chilly region as well. And I love the quote – I’m one of the few who hasn’t seen or read Game of Thrones, but don’t hold that against me. 😁

Will there ever be enough time? I’m beginning to doubt it!

I love long winter shadows and blue winter skies. Beautiful photos, Jennifer. Stay warm and drink lots of cocoa. 🙂

Thanks! I do enjoy the occasional hot chocolate on cold winter evenings. 🙂

Yikes! I think I’d have to stick with my treadmill. The pictures are gorgeous, though. Happy New Year, Jennifer!

Thank you, Jill. Even though it was cold, it was actually a gorgeous day – and the calm before a blizzard. When we heard what was coming, it gave us incentive to get outdoors while we could! Warmer and pouring rain here today, so I’ll be on my treadmill later too. 🙂

The shining sun always makes things look warmer. It’s foggy and cold over here right now but about 50 degrees. I’m shivering!

I’m cold when it 70, Jacqui!

That’s kind of cold for your neck of the woods, Jacqui. And yes, sunshine makes everything nicer. You just have to dress for it.
