“There’s nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it’s sent away.” – Sarah Kay, American poet
I love this sandy beach! Arguably the best of its kind in Newfoundland and Labrador, Lumsden Beach is just a ten-minute drive away from us here on the Kittiwake Coast.
So whenever the desire arises to walk a sandy shore that’s over a mile long, this breathtaking spot is our place to go.
Yes, we recently enjoyed a fun week on Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana with its crowds of happy tourists, its tropical climate and endless sunshine, but this beach is an introvert’s dream. Even in the dead of summer, it’s never crowded. Heaven on earth!

Hi. A quick note to say that I’m going to follow your blog. No pressure to reciprocate, though I’ll be happy if you do.

Beautiful beach, Jennifer. We’re about an hour from the Pacific. There is something so peaceful and centering about the waves – nature’s heartbeat. ❤

Nature’s heartbeat…love that. May I steal it? 😉

We went to Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana several years ago and loved it. The locals were wonderful and the beaches were fabulous. The beach is definitely my happy place.

The sand too is so gorgeous in Punta Cana! The locals are indeed lovely people, aren’t they? We spent a lot of time in the pools too, though, because we spend lots of days on beaches at home. 😊

My favourite beach is at Cape Island. Jack’s too! He finds something to play fetch in the water with every time.

No beach near me, well, at least not an ocean one. A Great Lake beach isn’t too far away.
I can see why you love your beach. Great quote you picked too!

You’re like the Torontonians who frequent the beaches of Lake Ontario. The next best thing to the real deal.
I love that quote too!

We never usually go there though. Not sure why. 😁

A heavenly beach, Jennifer and I’m not surprised you love going there. It is amazing when you can have almost a whole beach to yourself. The nearest one to me stretches for miles along the coast – although you have to check the tide timetable as at high tide most of the beach disappears.

Annika, not only is this beach long, it is deep too – almost a five minute walk from the start of the sand to the water! So it’s impossible not to find a roomy spot in summer.

Did you hear that sound…a deep longing sigh from me to walk on that beach … enjoy, my friend! ❤️

Jennifer, this Lamsden Beach looks so very inviting and only 10 minutes away. How wonderful.
A beach for introverts…must be one of those then as this looks so tempting.😊.
The nearest long sandy beach here is over an hour away .
You go walking and write a poem

Miriam, we are fortunate to live close to such a great beach, although an hour away is pretty nice too.
Poetry and nature go so beautifully together!

Love the beach and the ocean. Spent last weekend at the Jersey shore – not quite as unpopulated as an isolated beach but just as beautiful!

How nice! Being a Jersey girl comes with that bonus, and I’m sure it is quite beautiful. 😊
