“Some old things are lovely warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.”
~ D. H. Lawrence
“Old age: the crown of life, our play’s last act.” ~ Cicero
“If you survive long enough, you’re revered – rather like an old building.” ~ Katharine Hepburn
Very nice – that shed certainly deserves respect for hanging on as long as it has. I like your quotes, too!

One of the “relics” in our little town. I love the quotes too! Have a great day, Barbara. 🙂

Great quotes, Jennifer! What a fantastic photo, too. I wonder if anyone dares to walk inside of the shed. Happy Sunday!

Thanks, Jill. I don’t know if the shed is in use anymore, although I’m sure if I asked around I’d find out. Happy Sunday to you too! xo

A wonderfully wonky shed, Jennifer and full of atmosphere – it’s calling out to be explored! 😀 I love the quotes – spanning thousands of years and D H Lawrence is right, some old buildings never lose that warm glow of the hands and love that made them by men long since gone.

Every year that old structure clings more tightly and sinks deeper around the rock, Annika. And I can’t help but think of Paul’s grandfather having this house built that we live in. Despite extensive renovations and updates, it instills a sense of tradition and of days gone by.

Jennifer, I definitely believe a building holds the aura of those before and even more so for family. My grandfather helped build their house (sold now alas) and it was the most special place! My son loved going there as young and is quite adamant that he wants to buy it back one day and live there! Here in the UK we have a lot of old farm buildings gradually falling to ruin and I’m taken with them, photographing them …

That sounds like a photographer’s dream, Annika! Falling-down buildings have a special charm all their own. 🙂

How does that house still stand! A metaphor for life, innit, Jennifer?

First of all it’s not a house, it’s an old shed, Jacqui. But yes, it is a perfect metaphor for life!

Great quotes Jennifer – all the way back to Cicero.:)
Isn’t the old house with wonky angles full of atmosphere. I am sure the perfect modern ones would offer more comfort ….but, I would love a peak into the wooden building. 😊

I love the quotes too, Miriam. Over time, the old shed/fishing stage is shaping itself to the rock it sits on. I would say it would be pretty wonky to walk across its floor. 🙂
