This baby seal visited us here on Perry’s Point in 2011, during our first winter in Newtown. She stayed around for a couple of days before she swam away.
Jennifer I would have been blown away witnessing her visit, as a child I had a soft cuddly toy just like her and was obsessed with their plight. I hope she got to mature and have a good life. Wow! you live in such an amazing place.
Jennifer, he looks so cute whilst vulnerable – what a beautiful and tender visitor and one I imagine you will never forget. Thank you for sharing this lovely photo. 😀
You’re welcome! She did seem too vulnerable, Annika. I was fearful for her and wondered if she got separated from her mother because of a polar bear or something.
What an amazing visit, and a gorgeous photo. In answer to Jacqui’s question, I believe that Harp Seals live 30+ years (but she is wise to double check with Google….just in case). Great post!

It was the sweetest thing, Kath, and I worried that she was separated from her mom too early. I hope she survived too.

Those eyes! They are entreating – come, come join me in my winter wonderland. Oh, I so hope she survived…

One of my archived pics that I just had to share again. I hope she survived too. Even though there are approximately 7 or 8 million out there!

Indeed! I thought it was setting a precedent but we haven’t seen one since, only the adults. 🙂

I wonder how s/he’s doing. Do harp seals live for decades? Hmm… I’m off to Google.

At the time we were a little concerned for her, wondering if she’d lost her mother. I hope she survived!
