A Newer Perspective by Vivian K. Perry

vivHappy 2015, lovely readers, bloggers, and my feline friends and fans.

Vivian’s the name, for you newbies who haven’t had the pleasure of my sparkling company as of yet. I’ve returned to brighten things up in the blogosphere with another guest-host spot on Jennifer’s Journal. So take a break from struggling with your (ugh) resolutions for a few moments, and join me, won’t you?

My sister Maisie and I agreed to help show what is new and different in our world, specifically a nifty new camera to pose for since St. Nick dropped by last month. Jennifer hasn’t had time to learn all its functions yet, so she took these photos with the autofocus feature, just for a little test run.

Maisie hogged the limelight most of the time…

…but she did pose admirably and didn’t shy away, as she is wont to do.

010

Okay already! Now, what about moi??

016

Scenery? Is that necessary? Granted, the new camera does take nice shots – even through the kitchen window…

013

And naturally, Jennifer wants to show off her granddaughter’s new artwork, another of her treasured Christmas gifts.
(Yes, it’s her grandgirl’s birthday today too, so Happy Birthday, young lady! xox)

But what about me, and my joie de “Viv”?

051

Oh, come on, woman!
In what universe are a couple of ol’ ducks more photogenic than two purry Perrys?

040

Finally! { sigh} That’s a bit of an improvement.
But I know we can do better…

There! That’s it. Pixel Perfection.

Toodles, my darlings. Until we meet again…meow!

  1. Jennifer, I love the pictures of Maisie & Vivian! Maisie looks just like my tabby, Sally! Cats are wonderful companions! I wanted to start following your blog because I live in Pensacola, Florida and my cousin, June, lives on Greenspond! When I saw your pictures of Greensponds Walking Trail, I had the biggest smile on my face! I love Greenspond! Thank you for sharing! 🙂

    1. Welcome aboard, Debbie! Greenspond was a joy to photograph that day, it was so beautiful. We walk the trail at least once a year (my husband and I live in Newtown).

Love to see a pic of your Sally. 🙂 Cats rule, in my book!

      1. Thanks, Jennifer! I really enjoyed “January Blues!” I am so use to seeing white, sandy beaches that it took a minute to realize I was looking at beautiful mounds of snow! Lovely! Lovely! I like how you ended your day with a warm cup of tea. I am carrying on my heritage with that cup of tea here in Florida!
I wish I could attach a pic of Sally, but this is all new to me. I will have to ask how to do that. I love my two cats; Sally is 17 and Sami is 11. 🙂

        1. Yes, you’re right! I can see how it looks like sand, now that you mention it. 🙂 We’ve got a bit of freezing rain coating it all this morning.

Give your kitties a scratch behind the ears for me. 🙂 Thanks for your kind comments!

  2. Jennifer, your cats are picture perfect. So glad to see you’re enjoying your new camera, and I LOVE the view out your window. Please pass on a happy birthday to your granddaughter and tell her I adore her mitten picture. What a great idea to frame it so elegantly—you’ve got the wheels turning in my head now. Thank you for another inspiring post.
Scrivener is what’s new in my world. I got it half price through NaNoWriMo and I’m working through the tutorial. Notice I said “working.” My brain is getting a workout. But I think I’ll love the program once I really understand it.

    1. So glad you like my post, Wendy. My granddaughter’s birthday party was supposed to be last Saturday but she had the flu, so it’s going ahead today. Thanks.

Let me know how the Scrivener goes when you have it all figured out. I’d like to know if it would be of benefit as I too was considering getting it.

      1. Jennifer, I’ve read it’s not a good idea to switch to Scrivener mid-project. So I’m planning on using it for a new non-fiction idea, since I’ll be in newbie mode. ❀ I’ll update you when I’ve figured out if I like it or not.

  3. Viv you are such a star and I love you when you feature on Jennifer’s blog. The new camera took some wonderful images and I look forward to seeing much more. Happy snappy day to you Jennifer. Oh tell Maisie she is also gorgeous. Those close up shots are divine.

  4. Tonight I was doing my new year cards (well I WAS busy Nov, Dec, so missed getting Christmas cards out). I was looking for suitable cards to send and I came across a card set someone had given me. It had pictures of cats and dogs on the front. Every time I went to use them before I would put them back again, thinking that no-one would appreciate a photo of a cat or dog as a greeting card. I was just about to put them back again when I read your post. You have made me realise that they may be just the appropriate cards to use for a new year greeting after all! Thanks. I will get moving on that task 🙂

  5. Happy 2015, Vivian. Maisie and you are looking absolutely gorgeous and the photos are just puuurrrfect. What a lovely work of art by Jennifer’s granddaughter. No wonder she’s smitten with those mittens! Happy birthday to Jennifer’s granddaughter! Things are a bit quiet over here. So thanks for the smiles! Cheers, Bloggy Cat ٩(˘◡˘)۶

  6. Well, hello Vivian! Teemu here. Please note the tie–I do dress up for the ladies. I must tell you that Jennifer did a fine job of posing you and your sister on the chair. The coloring is perfect. Stand your ground! Ducks, schmucks. We felines rule the world! Oh, my little sister Parker, said to say ‘hello!’ Great post by the way…purr-fect! 😉
